To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee the Woodland Trust offered saplings to every town which wanted to plant some. Gatehouse opted for a selection of rowans, hazel and crab apples which have now been planted around the town. The School planted one of each, the three Churches have had one each along with the Community Centre, the Mill on the Fleet, the children's Fleetside play park and the Town Hall garden.
Four have also been planted in the grass at the top of Ann Street, two of them by the Gala Queen Eliza Scott and two by the Citizen of the Year, Celia McCutcheon. The Community Council would like to thank Ron Forster for his help with the planting.
