The Mill on the Fleet

Uncover the history and heritage of Gatehouse at The Mill on the Fleet, a restored 18th century cotton mill.

The Mill on the Fleet is a large exhibition centre in a restored 18th century cotton mill. It hosts an annual programme of temporary exhibitions as well as core displays on the history and heritage of Gatehouse and the Fleet Valley.

It includes activities for children - dressing up, a dolls house, and worksheets and other activities.  The Gatehouse Tourist information centre is based in the Mill, and the Mill also has a large shop showcasing regional arts and crafts, a large second-hand bookshop, and a café with riverside terrace. The Mill hosts live music events, talks and festivals throughout the season.  It is dog-friendly, and has a lift to all floors.  It should be noted that the lift is quite small and is a bit tight for larger powered wheelchairs, however both the ground floor and middle floor can be accessed directly from the outside.
