Our What's On page is designed to highlight local activities, attractions, events and information on a regular basis so that you are kept up to date with happenings in and around Gatehouse of Fleet.

Gatehouse Country Market

1st Saturday of each month from 9.30-1.00pm at the Kiosk in the main Car Park. A range of stalls selling quality food produce from around Galloway. Bread, meat, eggs, veg, cheese, jams and preserves.
Asmaller weekly market takes place every Saturday morning, providing bread and baking, and meat.

The Mill on the Fleet

The Mill is open each year from April - October. As well as the main exhibition, there is a programme of exhibitions, talks and guided walks running throughout the season. click here for more information and

Gatehouse Gala

The annual Gatehouse of Fleet Gala takes place during the end of July/beginning of August each year with Gala Day at the end of the week falling on the first Saturday of August. Click here for further information.

Barholm Castle Open Day

Barholm Castle

You are warmly invited to visit Barholm Castle, which was restored from a ruin in 2006, on Monday 2nd August.
The castle will be open from 2pm until 5 pm, with guided tours by the owners. Entry is free. For queries tel. 01557 840327 or e-mail: barholmcastle@btinternet.com

Directions
Turn off the A75 at the brown tourist sign for Cairn Holy. Drive for about half a mile up a steep narrow road, taking the right hand fork three times in a row. Limited parking will be available at the castle, and there is some space at the old bridge just off the A75, if necessary, with a walk up to the castle. (Please don’t park in the passing places on the road or block the farmyard or the road which runs past the castle to the house beyond.)


Gatehouse Music Society
Concerts (4 a year) are held in Gatehouse Parish Church.  Season ticket £27, individual concerts £9, accompanied schoolchildren free


Galloway Young Strings

Every Monday during term time, Young Strings: Violin,viola and cello players, Community Centre
4.15 pm – 5.45 pm.

Our walks are free

Our walks are short - From 30 minutes to an hour and are organised by local volunteers.
Our walks are easy - You don’t have to be super fit to join in we have walkers of all abilities.
Our walks are accessible – Most leave from the centre of town (transport is available to some of the starting points - contact us for more details)
Our walks need no special equipment – they take place on well-surfaced paths or roads
Our walks are your walks! - Let us know where you’d like to go and we’ll try and organise it

We are currently walking in:

Dalry - Mon and Wed 2pm - meet at the Bank of Scotland
Gatehouse - Tues 2pm - meet in the main car park
Kirkcudbright - Wednesday 10am. Short walk meet at the Town Hall. Long walk, meet at the Tourist Information Centre
Castle Douglas - Thurs 2pm - meet at the Tourist Information Centre
Dalbeattie - Saturday 10.30am - meet behind the Town Hall
