Gatehouse Town Hall Table and Chairs

The antique table and chairs originally used in the old Town Hall have been restored and will now be housed in the Faed Gallery in the Mill on the Fleet, where they join the large Faed painting of Gatehouse also originally from the Town Hall. The table dates from 1840 - 1850, the chairs from 1890 - 1900.

When the Town Hall was demolished in 1978 they were eventually transfered to the Community Centre. Over time their condition deteriorated to such an extent that they became unsafe to use, and the upholstery badly worn. In August 2008 the Community Council moved to save the furniture and to have it restored. The restoration was carried out by A D Livingston and Sons with the generous support of the Galloway Association of Glasgow and Awards for All.
