The World of Susan Faed

The Mill on the Fleet is to host an exhibition dedicated to the life, work and family of Susan Faed.  The exhibition will run from 3rd to 30th of October and is a Homecoming on your Doorstep event.

Susan Bell Faed was born at Barlay Mill, Gatehouse in 1827, the only sister of the famous John, James and Thomas Faed.  Like many women in Victorian Britain, Susan devoted much of her life to the care of her parents and later her brothers but she, too, was a talented artist whose works were shown at the Royal Academy in London and the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh.  The exhibition in the Faed Gallery at the Mill on the Fleet is a unique opportunity to see and appreciate the work of Susan Faed, who died one hundred years ago.
