Sayonara Knotweed

Gatehouse is hoping that a grant to continue spraying patches of Japanese Knotweed will help to say goodbye to this invasive species.

Since 2005 Gatehouse has benefited from a Japanese Knotweed Action Plan instigated by the Community Council. In areas such as the Boat Green extensive areas of Knotweed have been significantly reduced. Funding for this project was expended by the autumn of 2008. However, thanks to a contribution of £565 arranged through the Local Authority’s National Scenic Area project further spraying will be carried out in 2009.
