Resurfacing of the High Street

We have now finalised plans for the traffic management required for the resurfacing of High Street, Gatehouse during week commencing 9th September.
The resurfacing will extend from the Ann Street junction to the Old Brewery access (just below Galloway Country Style/Post Office).
It will be necessary to close the High Street to vehicular traffic from  Mon 9th Sept to Thurs 12th Sept from 8am – 6pm each day. This closure will be manned at each end with smaller vehicles being diverted around side streets when and if possible or re-directed around the bypass when not. The road will be re-opened to traffic each night, under traffic light control when necessary. If all goes to plan the work maybe completed and the street re-opened by Wednesday evening but I cannot guarantee this will be the case.
No on street parking will be available within this section during the day or overnight.
Pedestrian access to the full length of High Street will be maintained at all times.
A leaflet drop to all properties and businesses will be done early next week and we will do our upmost to accommodate anyone who has specific access requirements during the work.
We have been dealing with our Planning & Environment colleagues with regards to the operation of bus services through the town including the school bus services and alternative arrangements are in hand. The morning school bus service will be allowed through the works.
With regard to the works within the car park it is our intention to close it for two days next week, Tues 3rd & Weds 4th Sept to carry out preparatory works and then it will be closed for resurfacing for most of the week commencing 16th September. Signs are being erected this afternoon advising of the closure on the 3rd & 4th – we shall endeavour to retain some parking within the car park during these two days.
