This pretty 'wee toon' has much to offer
- friendly people, lovely coastal and upland scenery, individual shops
and a choice of excellent accommodation.
Gatehouse caters for a wide range of interests. The area is steeped in history and supports many interesting species of wildlife. There are opportunities for a variety of sporting activities, including golf, sailing, mountain biking and fishing. Above all, this is a peaceful beauty spot in which to relax and unwind.
Gatehouse of Fleet is a town for all seasons. In winter you can get to know the local people as you enjoy Christmas and Hogmanay in convivial atmosphere away from the commercialism of the big cities.
April, May and June are often the most glorious months with lighter evenings and the countryside full of blossom.
Summer has many family entertainments on offer including Gala Week, which commences the last Sunday in July, along with the delights of days on the beach.
The changing tints of the Autumn bring their own charm. All year round Gatehouse is the ideal place for a short break or longer stay.

Cally Boundaries Project Funding Award
A total support package of £66,500 received from The Heritage Lottery Fund and Leader will allow the Gatehouse Development Initiative to undertake a major project to conserve important features of the Designed Landscape of Cally for the benefit of locals and visitors alike. The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded a grant of £33,000 and £33,500 has been received from Leader. More.
Homecoming Scotland 2009
2009 marks the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns. Across Scotland communities are using the occasion to reach out to Scots around the world and invite them home to visit their roots. We hope you will join us in Gatehouse of Fleet some time this year. More.
Town Hall Furniture
The antique table and chairs from the former Gatehouse Town Hall has been restored and will be housed in the Mill on the Fleet. More.
Motorsport Centre proposal
A proposal so build a motorsport centre outside Gatehouse has been lodged with the Scottish Government in Edinburgh. The proposal can be downloaded from the Scottish Government website by clicking here.
Walking in and around Gatehouse of Fleet
A brand new booklet has been produced with details of a series of walks in and about Gatehouse of Fleet. The booklet, which contains maps, photographs and accompanying text on 7 different walks, is available locally at the Mill on the Fleet and the Kiosk.

Wind Turbine generates cash for Gatehouse
“The wind turbine at Rainton is now generating energy for Cream o’ Galloway and cash for Gatehouse. That is good news for our community and good news for Cream o’ Galloway” said Gatehouse Development Chairman David Steel, as he was handed a cheque for £2400 by Cream o’ Galloway director David Finlay.
