Gatehouse Search for Citizen of the Year

The search is officially on in Gatehouse of Fleet to find the Citizen of the year 2008.

Last years popular winner was Davey Dougan nominated by the public for his dedication and commitment on the Gala committee and to the town for over 30 years.

This year nomination papers are out in every shop and will be posted through every door in the town to ensure the people have their say. Deputy Provost Chris Walker said, “We are determined to keep the profile high and acknowledge the resident in our town that deserves public recognition for work and contribution to our community over and above the norm. We are expecting a bumper crop of nominations this year and have nomination cards in most outlets in the town.”

Nominations are welcome on line and you can nominate your chosen citizen by email by clicking here.

The Citizen of the year will be invited to switch the Christmas lights on in the town on December 7th followed by a community reception to mark and celebrate the achievement.
